Salmon vs Fish Oil

Taking fish oil supplements is not enough.  You need to eat fish rich in omega-3.  “But simply taking fish oil supplements is not as optimal as taking fish oil in addition to frequently eating fish. Why should you eat fish even if you already take fish oil? Because it is the only animal protein that happens to be poor in omega-6 fatty acids.  Eating fish further helps to undo the ravages of our excess consumption of omega-6 fats.” (Ivy Greenwell, “Fish Oil and Carb Restriction on the Anti-Aging Front,” Life Extension Magazine, March 2000)

Salmon isn’t enough.  You need take to take fish oil supplements.  “When I say high-dose fish oil, I mean it. You simply can't get enough fish oil from eating fatty fish like salmon, tuna, or mackerel, even if it's on a daily basis. Eating tuna salad for lunch or salmon steak for dinner will give you some benefits but not enough to truly control silent inflammation.”  (Dr. Barry Sears, Chapter 7 - Your Ultimate Defense Against Silent Inflammation: High-Dose Fish Oil, The Anti-Inflammation Zone, ReganBooks, HarperCollins Publishers, 2005, p. 75)
